Chicken Breast recipes: Using a Skewer
The kebob or kibob or kebhav, well no matter how so say it, it’s still the same delicious thing and you can make them with chicken breasts. In fact, I never buy the precut chicken meant for kebobs because they are so expensive, so I just buy some boneless, skinless chicken breast and cut them into 1 in cubes. Kebobs are popular no matter what country you go to and they are all about grilled meat on a stick, however some countries broil them.
How did we get a name let kebob anyway? Well it stems from the phrase shish kebab. In Turkey the word shish means skewer, and in Turkey this unique cooking practice started with medieval soldiers who would put meat on their swords to cook over the fires to avoid injuries. Chicken kebobs back it that time were greatly differed from our kebobs. Our chicken kebob recipes now incorporate many different herbs seasonings, marinades, and a lot of vegetables. However it used to be just some chicken stuck on a sword, cooked and then ate, nothing fancy.
You can do many different things with your boneless skinless chicken breasts to turn them into to kebobs, may personally favorite is to stick them on with some peppers, onions and carrots then sprinkle garlic powder over them and grill them.
You can also try this one; Slice the chicken breasts into strips 3-4 inches long. Lay some bacon out, I prefer using a cutting board but you can put it straight on the counter. Put on of you chicken strips on top of that bacon and then place a fresh or jarred jalapeno in the middle and roll it up. Once you’ve done that all you need to do is grab your skewer stick it and then grill. This goes really well with corn on the cob.
